How was your Memorial Day weekend? Ours was pretty nice, I must say. Yesterday, I was privileged to attend a local Memorial Day ceremony at a park just down the road. I posted about it at the Southern Graves blog.
I've been working with my water kefir grains for a couple of months, now. It took a bit for the grains to get going, and I learned a few things along the way to get to the best practice for me. I'm planning on a series of posts discussing ways I've reduced my daily intake of soda. I haven't eliminated it yet, and that is the goal, but I have made some strides in that direction. Water kefir, and its "second ferment" has helped with that.
Around the middle of the month, we spent a day along the Toccoa River. And I fell in love. Seriously. I enjoyed myself so much. The (cold!) water was so clear and inviting, I was compelled to do a little wading. Wildlife was everywhere, and it was the most peaceful space. I plan to visit often!
A few days later, we stopped at a flea market along the Appalachian Highway. Didn't make a purchase, but we were able to witness a huge turkey struttin' his stuff, as well as an "attack" rooster patrolling the premises. That was the day I took the photo that got the most reach and engagement on facebook.
This past weekend, we went to an "Arts in the Park" festival that carried displays from 200 venders. Seeing all those handmade crafts and works of art left me a wee bit envious of the talent most certainly involved. We left with a bottle of some "Smack Yo Mama" bbq sauce. It's a Polynesian (read pineapple) blend. So good.
On to the best posts and pin-ables of the month. (Only posted ten times this month. Hope to do better in the future.)
